Resources Connect your AI assistant

Connect your AI assistant

Connect Claude or ChatGPT to NannyAi so your assistant can read and update your real family calendar, meals, pantry, groceries, and routines.

NannyAi runs an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server — an open standard that lets an AI assistant securely act on your behalf. Connect it once and your assistant works with the same calendar, meals, and lists your household already uses. No copy-pasting.

Why connect

The tool you already work in, plugged into your home

The web and mobile apps are still home base. The MCP connection adds a second way in — the AI assistant you reach for every day.

Ask in plain language

“What’s on the calendar this weekend?” — answered straight from your real schedule.

Plan a week of meals

Every breakfast, lunch, and dinner written directly into the planner.

Build the grocery list

Generate it from a meal plan, then record what was bought, missed, or swapped.

Keep everything current

Pantry staples, reminders, tasks, and illustrated kid routines, all up to date.

Hand off the shopping

An assistant with a browser can assemble a delivery cart and report back.

Before you start

Three things to have ready

  • A NannyAi household account

You sign in with this when connecting — your assistant never sees your password.

  • An active subscription

The MCP endpoint follows the same access rules as the AI features in the app.

  • A compatible AI client

Claude or ChatGPT with support for custom connectors — the steps below cover both.

Set up

Connect Claude

Add NannyAi from Claude’s settings — no command line, no config files. It works the same in the Claude desktop app and at claude.ai.

Claude Easiest setup
  1. 1

    Open Claude settings

In the Claude desktop app or at claude.ai, open Settings and choose Connectors.

  2. 2

    Add a custom connector

Select Add custom connector. You may need to expand an Advanced or developer section first.

  3. 3

    Paste your server URL

Drop in the NannyAi MCP server address and save:

    https://ournanny.ai/mcp
  4. 4

    Sign in to NannyAi

Claude opens a NannyAi sign-in window. Sign in and approve access — see “How sign-in works” below.

  5. 5

    Start using the tools

The NannyAi tools now appear in Claude. Try asking what’s on the calendar this week.

Connect ChatGPT

ChatGPT can use NannyAi as a custom connector. This requires a paid ChatGPT plan, and you may need to turn on developer mode for connectors first.

ChatGPT Paid plan
  1. 1

    Open Connectors

In ChatGPT, open Settings and choose Connectors (sometimes “Apps & connectors”).

  2. 2

    Turn on developer mode

In the advanced or developer settings, enable custom connector / developer mode if it isn’t already on.

  3. 3

    Create a custom connector

Choose Create or Add a custom connector, name it NannyAi, and paste the server URL:

    https://ournanny.ai/mcp
  4. 4

    Choose OAuth

Select OAuth as the authentication method, then continue.

  5. 5

    Sign in and enable

Sign in to NannyAi in the window that opens, approve access, then enable the connector inside a chat.

Connector menus in ChatGPT change often. If the labels differ, look for whatever option lets you add a custom MCP server by URL.

Your password stays private

NannyAi uses OAuth — the same standard behind “Sign in with Google”. Your assistant never receives your password.

01

Open the sign-in page

The client sends you to a NannyAi sign-in page in a normal browser window.

02

Review and approve

NannyAi shows an approval screen describing exactly what access is being granted.

03

Connected securely

The assistant receives a revocable token tied only to your household — not your login details.

Capabilities

What your assistant can do

Once connected, the assistant works with the same data as the apps.

Calendar & tasks

Read, add, reschedule, complete, or cancel events, reminders, and to-dos.

Meal planner

Read planned meals and write breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack slots.

Groceries

Read the working list, rebuild it after meal planning, and record shopping outcomes.

Pantry

List staples, add or update items, and mark them restocked.

Routines

Read and edit illustrated kid routines and their steps.

Family thread & memories

Read the household conversation and add or recall saved facts.

Connecting a grocery store and placing orders stays family-driven from the dashboard — the assistant cannot connect stores or check out on your behalf.

Privacy & control

You stay in charge

Scoped to your household

A connection can only see your family — never any other household.

Revoke anytime

Remove a connection whenever you like; the assistant immediately loses access.

Follows your subscription

If access lapses, the MCP endpoint stops responding until it’s restored.

Treat it like a device

It’s a signed-in connection — only link AI clients you trust on machines you control.

Troubleshooting

If something isn’t working

Confirm the connection finished sign-in and is enabled in the current chat.

Make sure you can log in to NannyAi normally in a browser first, then retry.

Check that your NannyAi subscription is active.

Remove the connector and add it again with the exact server URL above.

Set up your household first

You’ll need a NannyAi account and an active subscription before connecting an assistant.
